The College Scholarship Initiative

Context

Higher education is vital for girls as without it they have little chance of accessing the work place. Increasingly, the girls that are graduating from the Veerni Institute are requesting help for higher education and training opportunities. The assistance requested is principally for hostel accommodation in Jodhpur while they attend college. In some cases, college fees are free – particularly in the case of lower caste girls - but others may also need support with their college fees.

Each year there is an increasing number of graduating Veerni girls who wish to continue their education into higher studies. This is the reason we started a college fund to help girls achieve their dreams.

The estimated budget for one girl per year is approximately $1500. We have calculated an average cost for the hostel they choose, the books, and the universities or training college they decide to follow.
